Agon supported CPBJH JV in managing surplus soils and wastewater from this critical Victorian Infrastructure Project. Our services included developing practical soil management plans, conducting data assessments for waste classification, and performing entry and exit assessments for layover areas using a risk-based approach to optimise time and costs. We also managed over 1 million contamination data points, enabling rapid work instructions for site supervisors to ensure compliance with VIC EPA requirements. The project involved extensive PFAS assessment in soil, groundwater, and leachability data, with expert advice provided on PFAS impacts on Tunnel Spoil.
Agon developed a number of innovative approaches for managing significant spoil volumes (2 million plus m3) and the associated chemical data to classify this material. This led to unique management approaches for this material and the lessons learned from this work have been for benefit of other major infrastructure projects throughout Australia. Agon also successfully assisted the JV with EPA approval for the reinjection of abstracted groundwater that allowed the project to significantly reduce potable water use providing a nett positive environmental gain to support the projects sustainability reporting objectives.
Agon has worked with a number of stakeholders including the Community, State regulators, Environmental Auditors, Contractors and End Users.
